I was born and raised in Kansas City, Kansas. My father was a Baptist Minister and I grew up in church learning to love music and singing. A very talented group of ladies would often present special music and play their guitars. At a very early age (6 yrs ?) they talked me into singing a special with them and it was the first time I can remember performing.
As I grew older, I would often sing duets with my sister Nelda and with my good friend Larry Jones.
One of the ladies that sang in our church and taught Sunday School was Blanche Tavis, a great singer/songwriter. She taught me the basics of playing the guitar and was a great example and inspiration to me. I have recorded one of the songs that she created titled "God's Redeeming Love". Her son Rick was and still is one of my best life long friends.
After graduation my friend Larry Jones and I moved to Dallas, Texas to attend the Independent Baptist College. Shortly after enrolling we were both asked to become part of a gospel quartet group that traveled the country singing and representing the college to churches and church youth groups. This was a very enjoyable and action packed time in my life and I was part of this group for about 3 years.
Throughout life I have always enjoyed writing songs and I often refer to my music as "shower songs". A few years ago I realized that I had created many songs both gospel and country but I had never recorded any of them. Most were songs that I would sing in the shower or in the car by myself. A few of the gospel songs I had performed in church but most of my songs were totally unknown to any but myself. I realized that I was not getting any younger so one by one I began to record many of my existing songs.
Once I started recording it has become a passion. A life event of my own or of others will capture my imagination and another song is born. I will be adding many more songs online very soon. I hope you will enjoy my music. My songs are simple country and gospel ballads and have a message. I try hard to sing in a manner that makes it easy for everyone to understand all the words.
Gospel inspirational music tells the greatest story of all music. Gospel music is one way the message of God's great love for all the people in the world is spread to the hearts of men, women, boys, and girls. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus), that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life". (John 3:16) I have believed in Jesus as my personal Savior and that is why I love to sing gospel music.
I also enjoy good country and folk music. County music covers the entire set of life experiences. Love, regret, rejection, success, failure, happiness, sadness....
